How to Play

  • A match is a series of 3 rounds. The winner of the match has best 2 out of 3.
  • Each round:
    • A modifier is drawn and is located in the top left corner. This modifier changes the rules of the round.
    • 8 cards are drawn to your hand from your deck
    • Select five cards from their deck to play against the opponent
    • You may discard as many cards as you want as long as you have 5 to play
  •  Cards will be executed in left to right order against the opponent
  • The winning card will be determined by the suit (see information to the left about strengths/weaknesses)
  • Cards that lose will be destroyed and cannot be played in subsequent rounds
  • Once all cards are played the surviving cards will have their ranks added up
  • The player with the highest score wins the round

I got the gist of the game pretty quick, which is really cool! Can definitely see the Balatro vibes, especially on visuals and music.

I had fun with the rounds even with this level of simplicity, which says a lot. Adding more elements and relying on addictive gameplay, point / score maxing and you probably have a very solid game in your hands.

Not too much I can add that hasn't been said, lacking a tutorial makes things a bit hard, and once you figure out the game it gets repetitive fast. Having power ups, items and increased chaos would be a perfect way to add to it.

Very impressive for 43h!

Nice submission.

I can see the potential, but I'm not entirely sure if there was a way for me to decipher what my opponent was capable of playing. Is there limited number of each card type each round? If so, you can kind of figure out what to and not to play.

Very nice, feels very polished. Well done!

Thanks for playing :)

Your opponent has the exact same deck as you and therefore the same suits, ranks and number of cards available.

I see. That makes sense. I'll have to try it again with that in mind.

If you are looking for more submissions to try out, I'd suggest CTRL ALT Defeat. My friends made it and I'm spreading the word a bit. Hope you have fun with it!
